DeRosa University Center and parking lot closures morning of Jan. 4

Dec 13, 2016

The DeRosa University Center will be closed the morning of Jan. 4 when Pacific's Department of Public Safety hosts area first responders for an active shooter training session. The DeRosa University Center lawn and adjacent walkways, including the walkway between Atchley and Stagg ways, will be closed. In addition, several parking lots will be closed or affected beginning at 6 a.m. that day due to the training:

  • Closed parking lots on Jan. 4: 1, 2, 6, 24 and 33
  • Parking lots affected, but not closed: 4, 19, 22, 26 and 36

If you normally park in one of the listed lots, please park in another lot on campus the morning of Jan. 4. The training is scheduled to be completed by noon and the DeRosa University Center will open shortly afterward. The River Room, Marketplace, Calaveras Coffee House, The Lair and the bookstore will be closed during the exercise. The Grove, Health Sciences Café and the E.A.T. Truck, which will be parked at the end of Stagg Way near Owen and Bannister halls the morning of Jan. 4, will remain open.

The training is intended to be as realistic as possible and there may be activity in the area. Loud noises may come from the DUC during the exercise, but please do not be alarmed. In the event of a real emergency, Public Safety police officers and dispatchers are trained to send Pacific Connect emergency alerts to students, faculty and staff via mobile phone, text, landline and email. Faculty, staff and students should provide and update contact information for the emergency notification system. (Log in to insidePacific, click on the "Administrative" tab, and click on "Update your profile for Emergency Notifications" under Pacific Connect on the far right. Update the contact information and click "Save.")
