VIDEO: Dugoni graduate fulfills father's wish by graduating on Father's Day
This Sunday, Kelly Nguyen '18 takes the next step in her career toward becoming a dentist - a decision influenced heavily by her own life. Nguyen was born without a tooth, right in front. At age 19, unable to afford an implant, her dentist provided a single denture that filled that gap. This moment transformed her life and filled her with newfound confidence, inspiring her to become a dentist in hopes of bringing that same transformative experience to the lives of others.
Nguyen's father was a pivotal supporter in her decision to attend Pacific's Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, a program he believed would lead his daughter to a career filled with success. Just before her first year of school began, Nguyen's father succumbed to cancer. Finishing dental school was the wish that he had for her, a wish that - three years later on Father's Day - she is fulfilling.
The following video features Kelly Nguyen remembering her father and reflecting on the role that Pacific has played in supporting her every step of the way.
