The Brubeck Institute at University of the Pacific celebrates the legacy of jazz icon and renowned university alumnus Dave Brubeck '42. This year marks the 60th anniversary of Brubeck's 1958 jazz diplomacy Tour for the U.S. State Department. The lineup for Brubeck Festival 2018 was carefully selected to reflect the intercontinental and intercultural message of unity and peace that was a beacon of that event.

Coming to the Stockton Campus Oct. 23–27, the Brubeck Festival will feature top international names in jazz, including headliners multilingual French jazz singer Cyrille Aimée and internationally renowned jazz band the Spanish Harlem Orchestra. The Pacific Jazz and Vocal Jazz Ensembles will perform next to Cyrille Aimée on Oct. 26 while the Brubeck Institute Jazz Quintet will join the Spanish Harlem Orchestra in concert at the DeRosa University Center on Oct. 27.

Another highlight of the festival's schedule is a performance by Mimi Fox, internationally renowned guitarist, composer and recording artist who joined the Brubeck Institute as a resident artist in 2017. Many talented regional jazz musicians will also perform during the week at Take 5 Jazz At The Brew.

"Bringing musicians of this caliber to University of the Pacific is a dream come true, both for students and for the wider community," said Patrick Langham, interim executive director of the Brubeck Institute. "Cyrille, Spanish Harlem Orchestra, and Mimi are amazing performers, and their concerts will be a great opportunity for audiences here to see musicians who are known throughout the world."

Starting Tuesday, Oct. 23, Take Five Jazz at the Brew, the jazz club at Valley Brew Restaurant on Adams Street will host nightly combo concerts with local favorites, including the Brian Kendrick Little Big Band and the Joe Mazzaferro Group. Among notable guest musicians is the Balkan folk music band, Triism, who will perform Oct. 23 during the opening concert.

Tickets are now on sale for the Spanish Harlem Orchestra and Cyrille Aimée concerts. Tickets for Take 5 Jazz Club concerts can be purchased at the door.
